Golf Equipment Buying Guide for Beginners

Golf is hard. Really hard, especially when you’re starting up. So what golf equipment should you be buying?

Firstly, you need to understand the basics. You’re allowed to have a maximum of 14 golf clubs in your bag. With regards the type of golf clubs, the best golf clubs for beginners offer a lot of forgiveness and help you get the ball in the air. In golf, “forgiveness” refers to the design and build of  a golf club that lessen the effects of a bad swing or poor contact with the ball. The better you get, the less forgiveness you’ll need. The less forgiveness a golf club has, the more you’ll be able to shape the ball and control the flight of the ball. Be careful not to buy clubs purely based on the ‘look’ of the clubs. Generally, the better the club looks, the more difficult it will be to hit.

All the leading golf club manufacturers have ‘forgiveness’ models that would suit beginner golfers. The manufacturers often refer to this as ‘game improvement’ clubs. Although blade type clubs, look better, they’re far more difficult to hit.
