How to hit a golf ball further

One of the questions we get asked the most at our golf pro shop. How do I hit my golf ball further?

There are several ways to hit a golf ball further:

  1. Use a golf club with a lower loft angle: Clubs with lower loft angles produce longer shots because they impart less backspin on the ball, allowing it to roll further after it lands.
  2. Swing faster: The faster you swing, the more energy you transfer to the ball, which can make it go further.
  3. Use a lighter grip pressure: A light grip pressure allows the club to release more easily through impact, which can generate more club head speed and distance.
  4. Swing on a more upright plane: A more upright swing plane allows the club to travel on a more efficient path, which can produce longer shots.
  5. Use a more flexible shaft: A more flexible shaft can store and release more energy, which can increase distance.
  6. Improve your swing mechanics: A well-executed swing with good technique will generally produce longer shots than a poorly executed swing.
  7. Increase your club head speed: There are a number of drills and exercises you can do to improve your club head speed, such as the wrist hinge drill or the towel drill.

Remember, it’s important to find the right balance between distance and accuracy. Don’t sacrifice accuracy for distance.
